The Good Governance Initiative (GGI) deeply mourns the passing of His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, a royal father whose reign was marked by dignity, wisdom, peace, and an unwavering commitment to the cultural and social development of the Ibadan people.Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin I.
The late Olubadan was a beacon of traditional leadership whose influence went beyond palace walls and whose voice resonated across political and community spaces in Oyo State and Nigeria at large. His departure leaves a deep vacuum in the traditional institution and in the hearts of the people he served with integrity and fatherly grace.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Advisory Council, and members of the Good Governance Initiative (GGI), we extend our heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the Ibadan Traditional Council, the Government and People of Oyo State, and the entire Yoruba race. May the Almighty grant his soul eternal rest.
In the same breath, we heartily congratulate His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Senator) Adewolu Ladoja, on his ascension as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland. A distinguished statesman, former Governor, and revered elder, Oba elect senator Ladoja embodies the blend of traditional wisdom and modern governance ideals. We wish His Imperial Majesty a reign of peace, inclusivity, and developmental progress for Ibadanland and beyond. We pray that his years on the throne will usher in new heights of unity, cultural pride, and good governance.

As we honour the legacy of the departed Olubadan and embrace the dawn of a new royal chapter under Oba senator Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, GGI pledges its continued support for efforts that promote unity, justice, and prosperity in Ibadanland and the nation at large.
