Oyasi Seeks Collaboration with Pensioners FM on World Headdress Day

The Omo Yoruba Atata Social-Cultural Initiative, OYASI, has sought the collaboration of Pensioners FM ahead of its annual World Headdress Celebration scheduled for Sunday, 28th of this month.

The Chairman of OYASI, Mr. Olawale Ajao, disclosed this during a courtesy visit on the General Manager of Pensioners FM, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu.

Mr. Ajao explained that the event, which will take place at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, at 11’ O clock in the morning, is aimed at showcasing the rich symbolism, cultural significance, and aesthetic value of Yoruba crowns, caps, and traditional headgear.

Mr. Ajao further revealed that efforts were ongoing to secure international recognition for the celebration, with a proposal already in motion for UNESCO to designate the occasion as World Headdress Day.

On his part, the General Manager of Pensioners FM, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu, commended OYASI for its commitment to the promotion and preservation of Yoruba culture and heritage.

Dr. Tiamiyu assured the group of Pensioners FM’s full support towards the success of the World Headdress Celebration.
