A retired broadcaster at Radio Nigeria, Ibadan, Oyo State, Mr. Emeka Darlington, has reemphasised the need for young journalists to prioritise skills over wealth and fame.

Mr. Darlington said this while speaking with Pensioners FM during a courtesy visit to Pensioners FM General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu,at his office.

Mr. Darlington noted that choosing fame and wealth over skills poses a threat to the journalism profession.

He further added that journalism requires hard work and originality, kicking against shortcuts and copy-paste journalism.

Mr. Darlington, however, lauded Pensioners’ FM for its exceptional and original programmes and acknowledged the station as one of the most outstanding radio stations in Ibadan.
