A Digital Skills Expert, Ms Esther Favoured, has emphasised the importance of digital literacy as a critical tool for youth empowerment and economic development in Nigeria.
Ms Favoured made this known during the Opatoki Digital Skills Training and Empowerment Programme held at the House of Chiefs, Oyo State House of Assembly premises, Secretariat, Ibadan.
According to her, digital skills were essential in today’s technology-driven world, enabling young people to access opportunities, improve their livelihoods, and compete globally.
Ms Favoured r noted that equipping youths with relevant digital knowledge would not only reduce unemployment but also foster innovation and entrepreneurship across the state.

Earlier, the convener of the programme, Otunba Oluseye Opatoki, who is also a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, said the initiative was designed to empower young people with practical skills that can make them self-reliant.
Otunba Opatoki who explained that the training programme would run for two weeks, noted that between 10 and 20 outstanding participants would be selected and provided with the necessary equipment to support their digital careers.
Otunba Opatoki further stated that if elected in the forthcoming governorship election, he would build on the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, particularly in prioritising youth development and empowerment initiatives.

Meanwhile as Christians across Oyo State and the world are commemorating the Easter season to marks the crucifixion and sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, Otunba Oluseye Opatoki, a prominent political leader and governorship aspirant for the 2027 elections in Oyo State, has extended his heartfelt felicitations to the good people of the state, urging them to imbibe the enduring lessons of love, sacrifice, and hope that the period represents.
In a statement released through his media office in Ibadan, Otunba Opatoki described the season bas more than a religious observance, but a profound acknowledgment of God’s love for mankind.
