Pensioners Advocate Sanctions for Defaulting PFAs

Adequate sanctions have been advocated against all Pension Fund Administrators that are depriving Pensioners their benefits under the Contributory Pensions Scheme.

The South West Zone of Contributory Pensioners Union of Nigeria made the request at the end of its quarterly meeting held at the Nigeria Cereal Research Institute in Ibadan.

The Union lamented the unconcerned attitude of a number of Pension Fund Administrators who remained indifferent to all complaints over unpaid Accrued Rights and Wage Arrears approved by the Federal Government through the Pension Commission in the last Quarter of last year.

In a Communique signed by its Chairman Chief Johnson Idowu and Secretary Comrade Idowu Ogunjinrin, the Union recalled its efforts to appeal to the Pension Fund Administrators to attend to the yearnings of its members through various visitations to the offices of the PFAs this year.

The Union reiterated its plea for the payment of the Accrued Rights and Arrears of wages to the Retirees in the Nigeria Customs Services and other Self Funded Agencies who are currently being deprived of their payment since last year.

The Contributory Pensions Union expressed delight over the positive welfare policy which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is giving to the Pensioners who are experiencing severe hardship which the scheme had brought on them but pleaded with the Federal Government to always monitor the execution of its policies which had to do with the welfare of the citizens.
