Makinde Says 2027 General Election Beyond Business as Usual

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State,has declared neither federal nor political intimidation will determine the outcome of next year’s general elections.

Governor Makinde who made stated this in his remark at the Oyo State Tourism Summit held at the University of Ibadan, however expressed the confidence that Nigerians are now more politically conscious and would do everything to defend their votes come 2027

According to the governor,unlike in the past,Nigerians were not ready to remain onlookers in the nation’s democratic process.

 He insisted that voters would freely choose leaders based on track records and conviction rather than political pressure or rhetorics

“I am convinced that this election cycle, federal might will not work. It has worked in Ekiti State in both instances but this time around, Nigerians will show politicians hot pepper” Makinde emphasised.

On the issue of political succession in Oyo state, the governor emphasised that while he could recommend a successor, the people of the state would however have the final decision.

He therefore warned against electing leaders who lack the competence to govern effectively, noting that ineffective leadership could draw the state’ current upward development back for years.

Findings and Media reports indicate that Governor Makinde’s remarks were in response to the wake  political alignments, re – alligment and increasing controversies ahead of the conduct of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
