The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of one of the leading renewable energy company in Nigeria, Olaade Innovative Concept, OIC Solar, Dr Olaoluwa Adegoke, has called on the Federal Government to adopt an embedded system of electricity supply in the country.
Dr Adegoke gave the advice in an exclusive interview with Pensioners’ FM.
According to Dr Adegoke, hydropower is no longer sufficient to serve Nigeria’s population, while incorporating gas and solar as sources of electricity would tackle the incessant epileptic power supply in the country.
Dr Adegoke stressed the need for states to key into the project.
Citing shortage of experts as another challenge battling the power sector, Dr Adegoke advocated teaching of renewable energy subjects and courses at secondary and tertiary institutions.
He noted that OIC solar company would start manufacturing solar powered products in Nigeria this year, to align with the federal government’s proposed plan to ban importation of the products.
The renewable energy expert appealed to the government to encourage local production of solar panels before revisiting its decision to ban its importation.
Dr Adegoke assured people of quality products from OIC solar company and warned against buying fake and substandard solar products.
