A Cleric at the Goke Adeleke Memorial Baptist Church, Akobo, Ojurin, Ibadan, Reverend Dayo Ajayi, has described thanksgiving as a powerful spiritual act capable of moving an individual from their present position to where the Lord desires them to be.
Reverend Ajayi stated this while delivering a sermon titled “Thanksgiving” at the 70th birthday celebration of wife of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pensioners FM, Chief Mrs. Ibironke Adesola.
The event was held in Ibadan and attracted dignitaries from within and outside the state.
According to Reverend Ajayi, thanksgiving is not optional for believers but an obligation expected by God.
The cleric also used the occasion to speak about the celebrant, Chief Mrs. Ibironke Adesola, describing her as a woman of humility whose life reflects God’s grace and goodness.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Day, Emeritus Professor Layi Egunjobi, congratulated the celebrant on the occasion of her 70th birthday.
He described Chief Mrs. Adesola as a humble and accommodating woman and prayed that she would witness many more fruitful years on earth.
Other goodwill messages were delivered by the Pastor of the couple’s church, Rev. John Adeyemo, and a family friend, Chief Ayodele Adeyemo, a veteran broadcaster.
Speaking on behalf of the children, Mr. Kehinde Adesola expressed gratitude to God for the life of their mother and thanked guests for their support and presence
In his remarks, the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners NUP, Oyo State Council, who is also the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Pensioners FM, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, wished the celebrant long life and good health.
Comrade Abatan advised her to continue to prioritise her health, get adequate rest, and ensure regular medical check-ups.
In her response, the celebrant, Chief Mrs. Ibironke Adesola, expressed deep appreciation to God for His faithfulness over the years and thanked all guests for celebrating with her.
Highlights of the celebration included Oriki Orile, Senwele Jesu dance drama, goodwill messages, cake cutting, and musical renditions.
Dignitaries present at the event included government officials, former and serving permanent secretaries, members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State Council, management and staff of Pensioners FM, as well as friends and family members.
