Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Honourable Akeem Ige, says pensioners in Oyo state will soon start getting their wage award alongside their monthly pension, as issues causing delays have been sorted.
Honourable Ige gave the assurance during a meeting with stakeholders in Ibadan.
Honourable Ige said the meeting was convened to interact with all stakeholders on what is responsible for the delay in the payment of wage award to pensioners as approved by Governor. Seyi Makinde.
The Chairman, however, warned all Heads of Local government Administrations (HLGAs) across all the 33 local government areas and workers in the local government to avoid any act of impunity capable of tarnishing the image of the government and their career.
All the stakeholders that spoke at the meeting appreciated Governor Makinde for his consistency in the implementation of various workers and pensioners welfare packages since he came on board.
Present at the meeting were Chairman of Local Government. Staff Commission, Dr. Remi Ayodele, Permanent Secretary of Local Govt. Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Luqman Akinola and his counterpart from Local Government Service Commission, Deacon Taiwo Adewale, NULGE President, Mr Ayobami Adeogun, the State Chairman and Secretary of NUP, Comrade Isiaka Abolade and Comrade Olusegun Abatan and all the heads of local government administration, Directors of Finance and Supplies in the 33 local government areas in the State.
