The Executive Secretary, Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, PTAD, Dr Chioma Ejikeme says the federal government will soon commence payment of 25,000 naira wage award to Pensioners.
Dr Ejikeme made this known at the ongoing National Executive Council, NEC meeting of Nigeria Union of Pensioners in Akure.
She said the wage award was part of efforts to cushion the effects of fuel subsidies removal on the senior citizens.
Speaking further, Dr Ejikeme promised that during her second term as the secretary of PTAD, she would resolve problems faced by retirees in the country, including non harmonization of pensions and gratuities, non increment of pensions and unpaid gratuities
Dr Ejikeme appealed to the senior citizens to be patient with the government, saying the commitment of the government to do right by them was sacrosanct.
She, therefore solicited the cooperation of the senior citizens on PTAD programmes and policies such as the “I AM ALIVE”.
