Fireboy DML and Asake’s hit single ‘Bandana’ has been certified silver in the United Kingdom.
This milestone marks Asake’s first-ever certification, highlighting Afrobeats’ rapid growth. According to the streaming platform, the genre has seen a 1,200% increase on Spotify since 2017.
The certification, awarded by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), signifies that ‘Bandana’ has sold over 200,000 units in the UK.
The silver certification of ‘Bandana’ is not just a win for Fireboy DML and Asake but also a significant milestone for the Nigerian music industry. It underscores the genre’s growing global footprint and the potential for more Nigerian artists to achieve international acclaim.
