Gov. Makinde Calls for Love, Unity among Residents

Governor Seyi Makinde has called on the people of the state to strive for Oyo State where love, unity and peace reigns irrespective of religious differences.

Governor Makinde who gave the charge at the 1446 Hijrah Luncheon, held at Presidential lodge, Government House, Agodi Ibadan, said with the people’s support, the state can surmount its challenges that could pose  threats to the state’s  love and unity.

The Governor assured that he would constitute a committee before the end of the week to bring to fruition the upgrading of Ibadan Airport within 18 months, to enable the state Pilgrims fly from Ibadan to Holy land.

In his lecture, Sheikh Muideen Najimdeen, described Governor Makinde as a leader Nigeria needs, adding that his lifestyle is enough lecture to humanity.

Earlier in his welcome address, Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, said Oyo state is among the few states in the country that has adopted a holiday for the celebration of Hijrah.

Chairman of the occasion, a former President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCI), Bayo Oyero, charged Muslim leaders and stakeholders to orientate Muslims on the significance of Hijrah and other important days in Islam.

Present at the event were Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, former Deputy Governors, Speaker, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, Commissioners, Religious and Traditional leaders.
