A group has urged the University of Ibadan to reverse the increment in accommodation fees.
The management of the institution stated in a circular that newly admitted students will pay N60,000 while returning students will pay N45,000.
New students and occupants of Alexander Brown Hall at the University College Hospital (UCH) are directed to pay N60,000 as the new fee for the accommodation according to the circular.
Newsmen discovered that this is against the N30,000 paid in the previous academic session.
The Education Rights Campaign (ERC), University of Ibadan branch, through its coordinator, Ben Taffe, in its reaction condemned the decision of the university’s management over the increment.
The group while speaking further, said that all halls of residence remain in the same despicable condition as they were before students last session’s break.
It lamented that when the fees were hiked previously, it did not translate to better living conditions of the resident students, saying the latest increment would not be any different.
