Two Public Affairs Analysts have attributed academic failure in recent times to negligence of regulatory bodies in the education sector.
The analysts, Mr Ademola Bello and Mr Kayode Adejumo-Bello made this known while reacting to the 77 percent failure of students in this year’s Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB examination on Pensioners FM current affairs programme, Voice of Liberation.
According to Mr Bello and Mr Adejumo-Bello, regulatory bodies such as Universal Basic Education Commission and National Commission for Colleges of Education, under the Federal Ministry of Education must make up to their responsibilities.
Mr Bello and Mr Adejumo-Bello also called on the regulatory bodies to ensure that qualified students with good grades are those admitted into the faculty of Education, rather than making it a dumping ground for those with low grades.
Speaking further, the analysts advised parents to also keep an eye on the academic performances of their children and desist from enforcing academic courses on them.
Mr Bello and Mr Adejumo-Bello also refuted the claims that social media contributes to poor performance of students rather, they noted that it could enhance their performance if used properly.
