Makinde Reiterates Commitment to Tackle Insecurity

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to tackle insecurity, for the development and growth of the state and southwest.

Governor Makinde said this while hosting Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG, Southwest geopolitical zone, Abiodun Alabi, at the secretariat, Ibadan.

Governor Makinde who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, said southwest region of the country is no longer peaceful due to the influx of Illegal miners, kidnappers and bandits.

The Governor noted that mineral resources in the Oke Ogun area of the state are what attract criminals to the area, urging the DIG to use his expertise in the zone.

Earlier speaking, DIG Alabi, revealed that the visit was in compliance with directive of Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to interface with police commands and other stakeholders in reducing crime rate. 

He appreciated Oyo State Government for its support to the state police command in its constitutional duty of combating crime and ensuring safety of lives and property. 

Present at the visit were Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, CP Sunday Odukoya, retired, and top officials of Oyo State police command.
