Security operatives have launched a manhunt for gunmen who abducted two residents of Ora-Igbomina, an Osun community bordering Kwara State, late Sunday night.
The victims, identified as Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi, were reportedly seized by the assailants during an attack on a private residence along Aran-Orin Road in the Papa area of the town.
Confirming the incident on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Osun State Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said a search-and-rescue operation had commenced immediately after the report was received.
The incident occurred at about 11:45 p.m. on Sunday. Our men, who had gone on patrol, returned to base when the rain started. It was during that period that the perpetrators carried out the act,” Ojelabi said.

A resident, who identified herself simply as Mulikat, said the gunshots threw the neighbourhood into panic.
We heard gunshots around 11:30 p.m. The abductors went into a house along Aran-Orin Road and picked up the two men. Some people tried to pursue them, but they could not follow them into the bush. They are suspected bandits,” she said.
The latest abduction has heightened anxiety in the community, coming less than two months after a former Customs officer, Emmanuel Owolabi, was kidnapped in front of his residence in Ora.
Owolabi was abducted by gunmen on December 15, 2025, and later released on January 12 in Oro Ago, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, after his family reportedly paid a ransom running into millions of naira.
Residents have since called for increased security presence to curb the growing cases of kidnapping in the area.
