NDOP: NSCC Describes Older Persons as Nation Builders

The Co-Chairman, Oyo state forum of National Stakeholders Consultative Forum on Ageing, under the aegis of National Senior Citizen Council Centre, NNSCFOA, Mr Abayomi Fakayode, has described older persons as nation builders with their wealth of knowledge and experience.

Mr Fakayode made this known while speaking at the National Day of Older Persons, a day set aside by the United Nations, to appreciate the contribution of the older persons in the society.

Mr Fakayode, however, called on the government not to neglect the older persons in its decision making as their experience and wisdom would make the nation progress.

Mr Fakayode also advised the older persons to always prioritise their health as their wellbeing is important to the nation.

The guest speaker, the Chairman, Ibadan Southeast Local Government, Honourable Emmanuel Alawode urged government officials in charge of palliative disbursement to prioritise the senior citizens in the process.

Honourable Alawode, also lauded members of NNSCFOA for their kind gesture towards the older persons in the state.

Highlights of the event include lectures, sharing of palliatives and games.
