Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde says Nigeria is currently at crossroads in its history, which calls for renewed hope, unity, and a shared commitment to prosperity on the part of its citizens.
Governor Makinde’ said this in his address titled:” Renewed Hope for Unity & Prosperity” at this year’s Independence Day anniversary celebrations, held at the Lekan Salami stadium, Adamasigba, Ibadan.
Represented by his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, Governor Makinde, expressed optimism that the best days are still ahead despite the economic challenges the country is facing.
He urged Nigerians to remember the sacrifices made by their forefathers by working tirelessly to develop a Nigeria that they would be proud of and have the opportunity to prosper.
The occasion witnessed the usual match past parade by the men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force, students, and voluntary Youth organizations across the state.
Meanwhile, members of the organised labour unions in the state shunned the annual celebrations, as a result of the proposed industrial action nationwide slated to commence on Wednesday, 3rd of October.
