The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State council, has urged the federal government to reduce the monopoly power of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL in the petroleum sector.
Secretary, NUP, Oyo state council, Comrade Olusegun Abatan made this known while reacting to the recent hike in the pump price of petrol on a monitored radio programme in Ibadan.
Comrade Abatan said unbundling NNPCL’s monopoly power would create a level playing field for other oil marketers.
Speaking further, Comrade Abatan described as a hasty decision, the floating of naira and removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu, noting that the policies were implemented without considering the economic implications on the masses.
The Oyo NUP Scribe, also faulted the decision of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC to settle for 70,000 naira minimum wage rather than 250,000 naira.
