Olurode Counsels Amupitan on Electoral Credibility

A Former National Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Lai Olurode has called on the new Chairman of Electoral Body, Professor Joash Amupitan, to see his appointment as a call to service towards the re engineering of the nation’s electoral process.

Professor Olurode made this assertion while reacting to swearing in of the new INEC chairman by President Bola Tinubu.

The retired Professor of Sociology at the University of Lagos called on the INEC helmsman to come up with strategic reforms that will ensure fairness,equity and credibility in the coming elections ahead of the 2027 General Election.

He also enjoined professor Amupitan to see some opposition against his appointment as a wake up call to work for the sustainance of Nigeria’s democracy.

Professor Olurode, however, emphasised on the need for Nigerians to support the new INEC Chairman for him to succeed in his new assignment.

The former INEC Commissioner,however congratulated Prof. Amupitan on his new assignment, wishing him successful tenure while urging him to conduct free and fair elections starting from the upcoming Governorship elections in Anambra, Ekiti and Osun states.
