Oyo Govt. Celebrates Workers, Reiterates Commitment to Workers Growth

The ‎Oyo State government has reiterated its commitment to continue to invest in the intellectual and professional growth of the state’s workforce in order to ensure that the state remains a beacon of excellence.

‎The State Governor, Seyi Makinde stated this at this year’s Workers Day celebration, themed “Reclaiming the Civic Space in the Midst of Economic Hardships” held at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

‎Represented by the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, Governor Makinde said the present administration recognises its responsibility to ensure that every worker operates in a just, fair, and conducive environment.

‎               

On their part, Chairmen, Nigeria Labour Congress, and Trade Union Congress, Oyo State Councils, Comrade Kayode Martins and Comrade Bosun Olabiyi while appreciating Governor Makinde on his excellent performance that touches all aspects of governance in the past six years, called for an upward review of the new minimum wage.

Also, Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP Oyo State Council, Comrade Olusegun Abatan thanked Governor Makinde for his efforts toward pensioners’ welfare and congratulated every affiliated union on the occasion of this year’s workers day.

Oyo State Head of Service, Olubunmi Oni, Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola, Chairman, Oyo NUP, Comrade James Osuntade, Assistant Secretary, Oyo NUP, Comrade Banji Koleosho and other government functionaries were dignitaries present at the events.

Highlights of the event include March past and presentation of awards.
