The Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), Oyo State chapter, Mr. Lade Olugbade, has appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to sign the Oyo State Building Control Agency and the Physical Development Law of the state recently passed by the State House of Assembly.
Mr. Olugbade made the appeal while featuring on Trending, a weekly current affairs programme on Pensioners FM.
Speaking on the 2026 NIOB Day scheduled for this Friday, with the theme: “Advocacy and Policy Influence towards Sustainable Reforms for a Resilient Built Environment”, Mr. Olugbade noted that the laws are critical for curbing the menace of building collapses and tackling the activities of quacks in the industry.

Mr. Olugbade further cautioned residents against engaging unqualified individuals for construction projects, saying such practices have been major contributors to recent building collapses.
The NIOB vice chairman reiterated the institute’s commitment to advocacy and policies that would influence safer and more resilient buildings in Oyo State.
