A Constitutional Lawyer, Barrister Abdulfatai Adesina says the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPT’s judgment on the petitions filed before it shows that the country’s judicial system can be trusted with transparency.
Barrister Adesina made this known while featuring on Pensioners’ FM Current Affairs Programme, “Voice of Liberation”, following President Bola Tinubu’s victory at the tribunal.
According to the former member of Oyo State House of Assembly, the final verdict by the five-man panel of the PEPT, headed by Justice Haruna Tsammani, showed that the judiciary cannot be easily influenced.
Reacting on the allegation that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC failed to transmit results electronically, through its Result Viewing Portal, IREV, Barrister Adesina said according to section 65 of Nigeria constitution, the commission has the right to conduct elections the way it likes, saying this is beyond the control of the masses and political parties.
Barrister Adesina called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) with their presidential candidates, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr Peter Obi to come together and support President Bola Tinubu’s administration to portray the credibility of the country’s judicial system.
Recall that Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi had filed petitions against Tinubu over the outcome of the Presidential Election held on Feb 25th.
