Reactions Trail Ongoing Off-Cycle Elections in Imo, Bayelsa, Kogi

Some Public Affairs Analysts have emphasised on the urgency of addressing the pervasive issue of electoral offences, which has hindered Nigeria’s democratic progress for years.

The Public Affairs Analysts, said this while reacting to off-cycle elections happening in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi, on Pensioners FM’s weekend Current Affairs Program “Voice of Liberation”.

On their part, Mr John Njoku and Prince Oyesina Oyelakin, emphasised that electoral offences posed a significant danger to the nation’s democracy and should be treated more severely than other crimes.

Mr Njoku and Prince Oyelakin stressed the need for urgent measures to ensure electoral integrity, and rebuild of public trust in the voting process.

Similarly, Honourable Femi Adebisi and Mr Omolade Oluwatomi spoke against off-cycle elections in Nigeria, saying they are not healthy for Nigeria’s democracy.

Honourable Adebisi and Mr Oluwatomi, called on the National Assembly to create a legislature, that would align all elections in the country.
