Sacked Workers: NLC Faults IBEDC for Violating Agreement

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Oyo state council has accused the management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC and its outsourcing firm for not complying with the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU reached with the union to reinstate its workers sacked last month.

Pensioners FM correspondent reports that members of NLC walked out of the meeting with IBEDC held in Ibadan.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the meeting, Chairman, Oyo NLC, Comrade Kayode Martins described the decision of meeting as null and void, noting that the union would meet to discuss a way forward.

Comrade Martins said the union would equally seek the intervention of Oyo State government on the issue.

On his part, Oyo State Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employments, Mr Festus Igbinosun called on both parties to reach a consensus on resolving the issue and strengthen industrial harmony in the state.

NLC, management of IBEDC and its outsourcing firm had signed an agreement on the 19th of this month to reabsorb sacked workers of IBEDC.
