The Prime Rose Academy Schools, Ibadan has won the Inter-Schools Spelling Bee competition organised by the Help Initiative for Social Justice and Humanitarian Development.
Prime Rose Academy, with 16 points, defeated Tekhols School, Ibadan, who had 14 points.
The competition which was held in Ibadan was to commemorate Nigeria’s 63rd Independence anniversary
The winners appreciated the organisers for creating a platform to showcase their spelling skills.
Earlier, the Team Leader of the Help Initiative for Social Justice and Humanitarian Development, Barrister Aderonke Ige said the aim was to promote spirit of sportsmanship among children.
Barrister Ige called for child development and qualitative education from the governments to help youths in their ambitions.
Barrister Ige equally urged the government to assist the initiatives in organising career talks for children.
On his part, the Programme coordinator, Mr Adedayo Ige while speaking on the spelling bee, tasked schools to inculcate reading culture in their students.
Highlights of the event were drama presentation, career talks, speech presentation and awards presentation.
