2024 Ede-Day: Planning Committee’s Ship Berths Benin Republic

The Chairman of the 2024 Ede Day Central Committee, Hon. Lukman Afolabi has assured sons and daughters of Ede in diaspora planning to attend the event of adequate security before, during and after the celebration.

Represented by Chairman of Mobilization Committee, Alhaja Tijani Hassanat, Hon. Afolabi gave the assurance during an interface with members of Ede Descendant Union, Benin Republic Branch in Cotonou.

Alhaja Hassanat, while delivering the Central Committee Chairman’s message said it was important that sons and daughters of Ede in diaspora, especially Benin Republic are properly informed about the Celebration coming up on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Ede High School pavilion.

Part of the message states “We are celebrating our father’s land, our heroes—both past and present. We are so glad and appreciate that you have been good ambassadors of the ancient town here in Benin Republic and we are very proud of you.”

In a remark, Secretary of the Contact Committee, Mr. Ismail Olaolu emphasised that the number one priority of the Chairman and the Committee is to thank God and appreciate Him for answering the prayers of past and present generations of Ede, saying the development of the town has continued to be rapid geometrically.

He added that there will also be a launching of multi billions of naira for developmental project.

“Last week, we met Osun State Governor who is our own son and Asiwaju of Ede, Governor Ademola Adeleke. We gave him a report about this year’s Ede-Day activity’s planning and the he mandated that we should meet our people in Benin Republic.”

Mr. Olaolu further explained that the year’s planning committee opted for the young and vibrant Hon. Lukman Afolabi as the chairman planning committee, Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun as royal father of the day, and world renounced Hip-hop artiste, Davido, as the golden son of the year, to add energy, royalty and vibrancy to the celebration.

Appreciating delegates of the planning committee for traveling down all the way from Nigeria to the West Africa neighbouring country, Chairman of the Ede Descendant Union, Benin Republic, Alhaji Suleiman Adegboye assured the delegation of he and his members’ maximum support for the success of the day and all-round progress of their fatherland.

Alhaji Adegboye also sent a message of appreciation to the Timi of Edeland, Oba Adesola Lawal Laminisa 1, and Oluomo of Edeland, Ambassador Adejare Bello, for their commitment to the growth and stability of the historical town. The Chairman, Ede Descendants Union, Benin Republic Branch also lauded Governor Adeleke, for giving due recognition and regards despite residing in the offshores of Nigeria.
