Every 12th of Rabi’ Al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar marks the Maulud Nabbiyy, commonly known as ‘Milad un Nabi’.
It is a day set aside to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
On this day, Muslims around the world celebrate the Prophet’s life and time, and reflect on the Prophet’s teachings, legacy, and the impact he had on humanity.
Also, many Muslim faithful believe that celebrating the day would enhance their spiritual renewal with Almighty Allah as it is an opportunity for them to rekindle their faith, seek blessings, and strengthen their connection with the Prophet and Allah.
In addition, the celebration of the day also signifies unity and joy as Muslims come together to share in the joy of the Prophet’s birth, fostering a sense of community and unity.
Furthermore, Maulud Nabbiyy has been described by Muslim faithful as a time to express gratitude for the Prophet’s guidance and show love and devotion to him.
Also, it is an opportunity to remind Muslims on the nobility of the Prophet and showcase him as a paragon of love, compassion, benevolence, generosity, justice and all virtue.
Holistically, the day has an historical significance for a reminder of the Prophet’s remarkable life, his message of peace, and his role as a mercy to humanity.
In Nigeria, the federal government declared a public holiday to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
In conclusion, as Muslim faithful mark Eid-ul-Maulud, they must always remember to live on the path that the noble Prophet Muhammad left behind and work on his legacy as obedient followers, especially at this trying time in the country.
