Aggrieved Pensioners of Union Bank of Nigeria, APUB, are appealing for the intervention of stakeholders in the refusal of the bank’s management to obey a court order.

The union’s prayers included the intervention of President Bola Tinubu, National Assembly, the Chief Justice of the Federation and media professionals.

APUB made this known in a “Save our Soul” statement jointly signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Augustine Onuh and General Secretary, Comrade Korede Mohammed and made available to newsmen in Ibadan.

According to APUB, members who retired between 2007 and 2019 had dragged the management of Union bank to the National Industrial Court, Ibadan Judicial Division on 15th of August, 2019, but the case was dismissed.

The union noted that, the union’s legal representative, Afe Babalola & Co filed an appeal of the dismissal, in which the appellate court on 21st of March, 2024, delivered a judgment in its favour.

The statement alleged that the bank did not comply with the court’s judgment despite two letters written by the pensioners’ legal representative, requesting for the compliance.

The Aggrieved Pensioners of Union Bank of Nigeria, therefore appealed to well meaning Nigerians to prevail on union bank management to offset pensions owed its retirees amounting to over 16.2 billion naira and additional accrued right of over 26.57 billion naira to retirees from their Retired Savings Account.
