Dr. Faroumbi Calls for Uniqueness in Radio Programmes

A veteran broadcaster, Dr Yemi Farounbi, has reemphasized the need for innovation, uniqueness and diversity in the broadcast industry.

Dr Farounbi who made this known at the 5th Anniversary lecture of

Pensioners FM in Ibadan while speaking on “Radio Broadcasting; Number Without Varieties: Need for Specialized Content”, reiterated the need for radio broadcasters to carve a niche for themselves in the broadcast industry.

Dr Farounbi, reiterated the need for radio stations to carve a niche for themselves in the Broadcasting industry.

Dr Farounbi who is also the Guest Speaker, noted that with the proliferation of broadcast stations, hence the need for specialize interest programme.

Dr Farounbi also emphasised the need for broadcasters to understand the uniqueness of their audience, noting that feedback from the society is needed for a broadcast station to thrive.

Also speaking, Chairman and Chairperson of the Occasion, Deacon Oladejo Owolabi and Mrs Bolatito Joseph, lauded the efforts of Pensioners FM’s in following the ethics’ of the profession.

Deacon Owolabi, who is also a Managing Director, Metropolitan Broadcasting Services Limited and AITV and Former Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs Joseph, also enjoined the station to, continues to abide by the National Broadcasting Code.

Board Chairman, Pensioners 106.7 FM, Chief Adebisi Adesola, urged broadcasters to shun the generalist approach to broadcasting to move the craft forward.

Chief Adesola also lauded the effort of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pensioners’ FM, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, in ensuring the station continues to strive amidst various challenges.

On his part, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Pensioners FM, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, congratulated management and staff of the station and also urged them to keep up the good work.

Comrade Abatan therefore called on the management and staff of the station to continue to work hard, and maintain professionalism in their daily discharge of duties.

Earlier, General Manager of Pensioners FM, Dr Babatunde Tiamiyu, appreciated God for sparing the station to witness another year.

The event was attended by eminent personalities which include, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Oyo State Council, Comrade Isiaka Abolade, Assistant Secretary, NUP Oyo State Council, Comrade Banji Koleosho, Chairman Local Government Pension’s Board, Oyo State, Honourable Akeem Ige, General Manager I-flyer FM, Adejare Amuda, and Public Affairs Analysts Honourable Femi Adebisi, Mr John Njoku and Mr kayode atolani.
