Governor Seyi Makinde has opened the first world pensioners hospital, in Ibadan, Oyo state capital for public use.
The hospital known as Sure Health Care Hospital Limited is owned by Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo state council.
Located at 4, Onireke GRA, along Ibadan North West local government secretariat, Agbarigo, Ibadan is one of the numerous projects of members of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo state council.
Sure Health Care Hospital Limited is also the first hospital to be owned by Nigeria Union of Pensioners in any part of the world.
While inaugurating the two-storey building hospital, Governor Seyi Makinde called on healthcare institutions to support Oyo NUP in the running of the hospital.
Represented by his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, Governor Makinde commended Oyo pensioners for setting the pace and assured them of his continued support.
Governor Makinde equally appreciated pensioners for having trust in his administration.
Earlier, NUP President, Mazi Godwin Abumisi lauded Oyo NUP for always leading among other state councils when it comes to execution of projects.
On his part, Chairman on the occasion, who is also the Chief Medical Director, CMD of University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, Professor Abiodun Otegbayo, represented by Chairman, Medical Advisory committee, Professor Olubukola Adeshina, said UCH’s geriatric centre would partner Sure Health Care Hospital Limited for effective service delivery.
Earlier, Chairman, Oyo NUP, Chief Isiaka Abolade, gave kudos to Oyo NUP scribe, Comrade Olusegun Abatan for being the brain behind the great feats being recorded by the union.
Speaking on the initiative behind the establishment of the hospital Secretary, Oyo NUP, Comrade Olusegun Abatan said it was due to many life-threatening ailments confronting people nowadays.
Comrade Abatan noted that Sure Health Care Hospital Limited would render world class healthcare services to members of the public, and not only to retirees.
Sure Health Care Hospital Limited, Onireke, Ibadan is fully accredited by Oyo State Health Insurance Agency, OYSHIA.
