The Nigerian Institute of Building, NIOB has urged Nigerians to engage professionals in their building projects, in curbing incessant building collapses.
Chairman, NIOB, Oyo state chapter, Builder Femi Adeyi and past chairman of the institute, Professor Bolaji Wahab made the call while speaking on this year Builders’ Day, on Pensioners FM programme, “Trending”.
Speaking on this year’s theme, “Builders’ Role in Effective Building Control and Regulatory Compliance for Sustainable Construction”, Builder Adeyi and Professor Wahab said engaging professionals would create an avenue for supervision of building projects.
Builder Adeyi and Professor Wahab called for synergy between building agencies, such as the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) in checking quackery in the building industry.
Builder Adeyi and Professor Wahab urged Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde to sign NIOB Building Control Agency’s bill into law, which has already been passed by the State Assembly.
