Oyo Govt. Advocates Pensioners’ Training on Fund Management

By Michael Adeyemo

The Oyo State Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Professor Salihu Adelabu, has called for training for pensioners on effective pension and gratuity management.

Professor Adelabu made this known in an interview with Pensioners FM shortly after featuring on the Station’s weekly Senior Citizens Profiling Programme in yourba, Isinmidun.

He explained that the proposed training would enlighten pensioners on appropriate ways to manage their pensions and gratuities, noting that many retirees currently lack adequate financial management knowledge.

Professor Adelabu further advised pensioners to invest part of their funds in acquiring knowledge and skills that would help them manage their gratuities wisely and sustainably.

Addressing concerns over delays in payment, Professor Adelabu, said there is no need for pensioners to bargain or lobby anyone, as all gratuity payments are processed officially and transparently in line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s directives.

He urged them to ensure that all required documents are properly completed and submitted to avoid unnecessary delays.

Professor Adelabu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of pensioners, assuring them that necessary measures have being in operation to guarantee timely and hitch-free payment of their entitlements.
