Government and other stakeholders have been urged to promote women inclusiveness in politics to drive political ambition in women.
Guest Speaker, Comrade Bolatito Joseph made the appeal at the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration organised by the women committee and Commission of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC, Oyo state councils, held at the Local Government Staff Training School, Secretariat, Ibadan.
Speaking on the theme “Right, Justice and Empowerment/Inclusion for Women and Girls: Give to Gain”, Comrade Joseph said the country has more to gain from the administration of women if allowed to govern.

Comrade Joseph, who is a former zonal director of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, called on women to use their population to support themselves in politics.
Earlier, the Secretary to Oyo State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, the Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, and Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo State Council, Comrade Kayode Martins, called for gender equality in the country’s political space.


In their goodwill messages, Chairperson, Oyo TUC Women Commission, Comrade Funmilayo Sotuminu and Chairperson, Oyo NLC Women Commission, Comrade Bolanle Olumide-Lawal, while appreciating everyone for celebrating the strength and resilience of women, called for empowerment of women in all spheres of life.

Dignitaries present included Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi and several female permanent secretaries.
Highlights of the event include an award presentation to Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, Secretary to the state Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, Oyo NLC Chairman, Comrade Kayode Martins, Commissioner for Health, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi and others.
Other includes cultural dance to eulogise women in society.
