Oyo State Ministry of Establishment and Training, as called for patience, has it clears the backlog of gratuities of retirees in the state.
The Commissioner for the ministry, Prof. Solihu Adelabu made the appeal on Pensioners FM Programme, “The Grey Hair” which profiles the past life of the elderly.
According to Prof. Adelabu bottleneck is the major factor delaying the clearance of the backlogs, claiming that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde inherited unpaid gratuities as far back as 2018.
The commissioner noted the ministry has cleared the backlog from 2008 to 2014, but is left with the backlog of 2015 to 2018, which he promised will be cleared before the end of this administration.
Prof. Adelabu, further stated that the ministry, for the period of January to March, 2026, has cleared the gratuities of about 1,500 retirees for the year 2019 and 2020, and assured that a new set of payments will commence in June, 2026.
He promised that the ministry, through the state government, will continue to prioritise the welfare of retirees and workers of the state by offering affordable house mortgages, health insurance schemes, subsidised transport fares and capacity building.
