The Chief Imam of the University of Ibadan Central Mosque, Professor Ibrahim Uthman, has urged Muslim faithful not to regard Ramadan and other religious obligations as mere annual rituals, but as spiritual exercises meant to transform lives.
Professor Uthman made the call during the 3rd Post-Ramadan Lecture organised by the Ath-Thaqaafat-al-Islamiyyah Society of Nigeria, on Pensioners FM.
Delivering a lecture on the theme, “Dunya: Step to Al-Akhira – Choosing Between Ihsan and Fasad,” the Islamic scholar stressed the need for Muslims to imbibe the lessons and teachings of religious rites, noting that one of the key lessons of Ramadan is to be good to neighbours and the wider community.
Professor Uthman also emphasised the importance of supporting others to succeed, saying acts of kindness and assistance remain central to Islamic teachings.

In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour, Professor Rasheed Aderinoye, encouraged Muslims to sustain the positive deeds and spiritual discipline observed during Ramadan in order to promote the cause of Islam and deepen spirituality.
Professor Aderinoye noted that Muslims are expected to maintain positive attitudes and shun negative conduct in their daily lives.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Professor Jamiu Oluwatoki, reiterated that the essence of the post-Ramadan lecture was to reinforce the importance of adhering to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an.
Professor Oluwatoki also remind Muslim faithful that the lessons learnt during the holy month of Ramadan should be sustained in their daily lives, particularly through strict observance of the injunctions of the Qur’an.
Also present at the post Ramadan lecture include , President of the Society, Imam Abduljaleel Olori-Aje, Coordinator and Member of the committee, Imam Munirudeen Olori-Aje, Member of the Committee, Alfa Sulaiman Bello and a Public affairs Analyst, Mr Lukman Animasahun and the anchor , Prince Oyesina Oyelakin
