Veteran Broadcaster, Farounbi speaks on passage of Poetic Icon, Olanrewaju Adepoju

A former Nigerian ambassador to the Republic of Philippines, Dr Yemi Farounbi, has described the death of foremost poet and activist, Olarewaju Adepoju as a great loss to Yoruba land and Nigeria.

Dr Farounbi who made this known in a telephone interview with Pensioners FM Correspondent, described late Olarewaju Adepoju as a talented Poet, who used his literary prowess to influence government policies.

Dr Farounbi condoled with the immediate family of the late Poet and the entire people of Ibadan Land, and prayed to God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Olarewaju Adepoju died yesterday evening in his home in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, at the age of 83 and has been buried according to Islamic rights.

Late Adepoju wrote the Yoruba best sellers Sagba Dewe, Ironu Akewi and Orirun Yoruba.
