Mr Beneth Igwe has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.
The Police Service Commission on Wednesday announced the approval of the appointments and postings of Igwe and nine other CPs to 10 commands, in a statement by its spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani.
The approval followed the promotion of 14 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the substantive ranks of Commissioners of Police.
Before his latest appointment, Igwe was on January 17 appointed by the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, as the Commander of the FCT Special Intervention Squad.
Ani, in a statement on Wednesday, said, “The Police Service Commission has approved the appointment and posting of Commissioners of Police for 10 State Commands of the federation.
“This is coming on the heels of the promotion of 14 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the substantive rank of Commissioners.
“The newly appointed state Commissioners of Police are Peter Opara, former Deputy Commissioner, Administration in Imo State who has been posted to Osun State; Olughemiga Adesina posted to Benue State; Akinwale Adeniran, Ekiti State Command, and Mohammed Abba, Adamawa State Command.
