Two Public Affairs Analysts have called on Nigerians to cultivate the habit of holding the government accountable to curb financial irregularities in budgeting.

Mr Adesumbo Badejoko and Mr Kayode Atolani said this while expressing divergent opinions on the alleged budget padding by the National Assembly on Pensioners’ FM programme “Voice of Liberation.”

Mr Badejoko who faulted Senator Abdul Ningi, a senator from Bauchi State, for alleging that the 2024 budget was padded with over 3 trillion naira, noted that it was within the right of the National Assembly to inflate budgets when necessary.

Mr Badejoko, who is also a Media Consultant, noted that the allegation of budget padding has both political and tribal undertones.

On his part, Mr Atolani, who is a Financial Expert, noted that the budget padding allegation was an eye –opener in the level of corrupt practices in government sectors.

Mr Atolani, therefore, called for a thorough investigation into the allegation raised by Senator Ningi.
