The General Coordinator and founder of the Ahmenda Marathon Run, Mr.
Ahmed Abdulwahab, has called for stronger support for youth sports
development in Oyo State.
Speaking at the sixth edition of the marathon held at Anwar-ul-Islam
Grammar School, Eleyele, Ibadan, he explained that the initiative was
designed to discover and nurture young talents through sports.
Mr. Abdulwahab further appealed to Oyo State Government and relevant
stakeholders to increase financial and institutional backing in order to
sustain the programme and expand opportunities for emerging athletes.
Chairperson of the event and member representing Ibadan North West
Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Dawood Akanni
Olalere, popularly known as D-Al-Ameen, who was represented by his aide,
Hon. Smart Obajulaye, commended the organisers for their commitment to
grassroots sports development.

Also speaking at the event, Special Guest, Barrister Yakub Fadare, praised
the initiative and urged athletes to remain disciplined and consistent in
training ahead of future competitions.
Athletes who participated also expressed satisfaction and commended the
organisers for the successful hosting of the marathon, describing it as
impactful and well-coordinated.
Over 76 athletes participated in the 3-kilometre race, while more than 120
competed in the 10-kilometre category.
The 3km event started from WAEC Junction, Ijokodo, and ended at Anwar-
ul-Islam Grammar School, Eleyele. The 10km race began at Orogun and
finished at the same venue.
Dignitaries present include Alhaja Sekinat Adedapo, Principal of Anwar-ul-
Islam Grammar School, Alhaja Aminat Ahmed, Alhaja Fadare, and Prince
Shina Oyelakin Pensioners FM Analyst.
