Accident Damages Pole, Cuts Power in Oyo Communities

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has announced a power disruption affecting some communities in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The outage follows a vehicular accident that damaged a high-tension pole along the Akala Expressway.

In an official notice issued on Monday and signed by management, IBEDC stated that the incident occurred on the Oluyole 11kV feeder, resulting in an immediate outage for communities served by several affected transformers.

“Kindly be informed that due to a vehicular accident which damaged a HT pole on the Oluyole 11kV feeder along Akala Expressway, communities under the following transformers are experiencing a power outage: Adeoje 1, Adeoje 2, Adeoje 3, Adeoje 4,

The company assured customers that its technical team was working to ensure power supply is restored as quickly as possible.

IBEDC expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to customers and urged patience while repairs are underway.

On Sunday, Newsmen reported that Kaduna Electric informed customers of a reduction in power supply across its franchise area, citing gas supply constraints affecting generation on the national grid.

The company said the situation had led to lower power allocation and increased load shedding across its network in Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara states.

Similarly, Eko Electricity Distribution Company had earlier informed customers in Lagos State of a planned power outage scheduled for Saturday, March 14.

The outage, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., will allow contractors of the Transmission Company of Nigeria to carry out essential maintenance and upgrade works aimed at improving electricity service delivery.
