Communities in Oyo State have been advised to engage in regular interactions with government and its agencies to attain meaningful developments.
The Legislator, representing Oluyole Local Government in Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Waidi Akintayo gave the advice when he received the Executives of Egbeda-Atuba Descendants Union who paid him a courtesy visit.
He said, requests by various communities in the State were numerous and this required regular deliberations with relevant government agencies including the Legislative arm.
Hon Akintayo pointed out that the commitment of Governor Seyi Makinde to the welfare of the people of Oyo State was immeasurable, going by the stringent efforts he constantly put in place to execute some projects after payment of salaries of workers and pensions.
According to the legislator, the only way to feel the impact of government was for communities to identify their priorities through their interactions with government from time to time.
Hon Akintayo commended the sons and daughters of Egbeda-Atuba for finding it necessary to formalise their request from government through their legislator.
He explained that he had always received telephone calls from residents of the area on the state of the road from Ayetoro to Egbeda-Atuba, stressing that government could only respond to community requests in order of priority and within available resources.
He, however, promised to personally collaborate with the Descendants of the area to ensure that the Community Grammar School, Egbeda-Atuba received necessary attention.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Deacon Solomon Olaoye had sought the influence of Hon Akintayo in the pursuit of some programmes which are capable of boosting the socio economic lives of the people of the community.
Deacon Olaoye specifically implored Honourable Akintayo to promptly intervene in the provision of standard classrooms for Community Grammar School, Egbeda-Atuba as well as the encroachment of the school land.
On the entourage of Deacon Olaoye were a Diplomat, Ambassador Gbadebo Afolabi, the Vice Chairman Revd ‘Jide Opayemi, Secretary, Elder Goke Oyadotun, the Public Relations Officer, Deacon ‘Femi Oladipo, and Secretary of Parents Teachers Association of the Grammar School, Alhaji lshaq Olawale.
