The Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON has described the destruction of multi-billion-naira equipment of Daar Communication Plc, owned by Africa Independent Television, AIT, situated in Port-Harcourt, by Rivers state government as violation of rule of law.

BON Executive Secretary, Dr Yemisi Bamgbose made this known in a statement made available to newsmen.

According to Dr Bamgbose, the demolition was not only a demonstration of subjugation calculated to inflict devastating injury on Daar Communication, but also a method of silencing the media.

He called on the Federal government to wade into the matter of deliberate violation of rule of law.

Dr Bamgbose also called on Rivers state government to stop the harassment of Daar Communication group and allowed the court to determine the legality of the matter.

BON recalled that the dispute on a land between Daar Communications and Rivers State Government was still pending before a court of competent jurisdiction.
