The Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, Oyo State has taken action against Agidigbo 88.7 FM, for broadcasting a false allegation against one of its Rev. Father, accused of impregnating one Kate Odjegba.
The Archdiocese made this known in a statement signed by the Chancellor, Archdiocese of Ibadan, Very Rev. Anthony Omolade and made available to newsmen in Ibadan.
According to the statement, the accusation leveled against the Rev. Father, under its ecclesiastical jurisdiction, was false, malicious and injurious to the integrity of the Catholic Church and her clergy.
The statement followed a broadcast by Agidigbo 88.7 FM, on Friday, 2nd of May, 2025, claiming that its guest, Kate Odjegba, alleged that she was impregnated by the Rev Father.
The Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, noted that after thorough investigations, the church discovered that the accusation was false and accused Agidigbo 88.7 FM radio of not upholding the principle of truth, responsibility and fairness and chose to broadcast such a claim without verification from the church.
It stated that the Archdiocese, has instructed a law firm, to take all legal means to ensure that Agidigbo 88.7 FM realises its journalistic lapse and take concrete steps to repair the harm already caused.
The Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, therefore, appealed to members of the public not to fall prey to the spread of malicious and sensational information.
