A Public Affairs Analyst, Dr Aliyu Illias, says hike in school fees, especially at higher institutions can lead to the withdrawal of students.
Dr. Illias made this known in a telephone interview on Pensioners Weekend Current Affairs Programme’ Voice of Liberation” while reacting to the recent protests over hikes in school fees by some Federal University students across the country.
According to Dr. Illias, the current economic situation of the nation was already biting hard on parents and guardians, therefore, appealing to the federal government to intervene.
Dr Illias also noted the Student Loan Bill by President Bola Tinubu’s administration as another reason for the hike in tuition fees, urging the government to once again look at the bill critically, before passing it into law.
The Public Affairs Analyst added that reviewing the bill was necessary so that the reason for the student loan would not be jeopardized.
