Leaving behind a good legacy to serve as an example for the next generation of journalists has been emphasised.
This was the submission at the 2nd Edition of late Mr Tunde Oluwanike Annual Memorial lecture, organised by Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Radio Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Chapel, held at the station’s premises, Dugbe.
The guest lecturer, Pensioners’ FM’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu, while speaking on the theme, “Journalists: Working Today, Living Tomorrow” , said the lives of journalists matter and their welfare and safety most be prioritised before and after retirement.

Dr Tiamiyu urged journalists to equip themselves with skills and acquisition that would be beneficial to them after retirement, but in line with ethical standards of the profession.
Speaking earlier, the Zonal Director FRCN, Ibadan Zone, Mr Dominic Mokikan, urged journalists to be active and contribute positively to their organisation so they can be remembered for good.

Also speaking earlier, Chairman, NUJ FRCN Ibadan Chapter, Comrade Oluwakayode Banjo, noted that it became imperative to educate journalists on how to prepare for life after retirement.

Present at the event were wife of the late Mr Tunde Oluwanike, Mrs Omolara Oluwanike, Deputy Director News and Current Affairs and former NUJ Chairman, Radio Nigeria Chapter, Mr Adewunmi Faniran, NUJ Oyo State Council.
Among those on the entourage of the guest lecturer to the event include, Head of English and Sports Presentations, Mr Eedris Abiola, Head of Editorial Unit, Mrs Yetunde Oke – Akinola, two among the public affairs analysts on Pensioners’ FM, Prince Oyesina Oyelakin and Mr. Kayode Atolani as well as General Manager, I – flier FM Ibadan, Mr Adejare Amuda.
Late Mr Tunde Oluwanike died 11 years ago in the struggle for NUJ as well as charting a discourse towards engendering a better welfare for journalists.
