The Former Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON Oyo state chapter, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, has expressed deep sadness over the death of veteran broadcaster Babatunde Olaniyi popularly known as “Ti O Common”, describing him as a dedicated broadcaster who had made a name for himself by dint of sheer hard work and commitment to excellence.
Prince Abass-Aleshinloye said he believes the multi-talented broadcaster, whose versatility stretched into music and writing, contributed to the vibrancy and dynamism of Nigerian media, remaining noticeable that the years he spent in the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, were most remarkable in developmental journalism.
He described “Ti O Common” as a revered and principled media practitioner, who was consistently fighting for fairness and justice.
“He served as a special adviser to late Former Governor Ajimobi and resigned despite that he continued been the part of the regime. He has certainly left his footprints on the sands of time,”
“As the veteran broadcaster goes home, ex council chairman believes his legacy of giving ‘‘voice to the voiceless’’ will be long remembered.
Prince Abass-Aleshinloye, while praying to Almighty God to forgive the soul of the deceased and reward his good deeds with eternal rest, also extended his condolences to the family of Olaniyi and the entire broadcasting family.
