GGI Honours Akintayo, Kamorudeen on Grassroots Governance

The Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government Iwo Road,Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo and his counterpart at Lagelu Local Government,Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, have promised to empower about 300  people from their Areas through Skill Acquisition and  petty cash support.

The two local government executives made this known at a Special Recognition and Award Evening organised by a Non – Governmental Organization, Good Government Initiative, GGI, in Ibadan

At the ceremony that featured a stewardship account by the two Council Chairmen,Hon. Akintayo  highlighted some of his achievements to include ; the commissioning of a Garri Factory,the Council’s Multipurpose Hall and Marriage Registry as well as various facility upgrades.

On his part, Chairman,Lagelu Local Government,Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen,listed the construction of over 8 Kilometers of Roads in the local government,aside from other developmental projects with the approval of  Governor Seyi Makinde.

GGI’s Technical Director, Dr. Paul Emokhare, explained that, the group is non-partisan and has over 1000 members across Oyo State, with focus on good governance and emancipation of electorates.

Earlier in a welcome address, GGI Chairman, Mr. Bayonle Okeyode, appreciated the two local government chairmen for their commitment to grassroot governance, in complementing the developmental agenda of Governor Seyi Makinde towards bringing dividends of democracy to the generality of the people of Oyo State.

Both Chairmen,Hon. Akintayo and Hon. Kamorudeen were  later conferred with an award of Excellent in Good Governance by GGI,in recognition of their outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to sustainable development, underscoring their impactful strides Ibadan in Ibadan North East and Lagelu Local Government Areas.

Responding, the two local government executives Chairmen, while appreciating the board,executives and members of GGI for honour bestowed on them,promised to continue in the running of people oriented administration and a collaboration with the body to empower about 300 people across the two Council Areas.

The Special Recognition  and Award Evening organised by the Good Governance Initiative,GGI,was  attended by a former Chairman,Oyo State Pension Board, Hon. Kayode Oyedeji, GGI Vice Chairman, Mr. Yinka Ibitoye, Media Executives, community leaders, and representatives from some good governance advocacy groups.
