Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged Muslims in the state to reflect on the teachings of Ramadan in promoting unity.
Governor Makinde made the call at the 11th Omititun Ramadan Lecture, held at Government House Arcade, Agodi, Ibadan.
The Governor, emphasised the importance of embracing the values of Ramadan to foster togetherness in communities within the state.
Earlier in his sermon titled “Benefits of Being a Neighbor and Islamic Perspective” Chief Iman of Ogbomoso Land, Sheik Tahilat Ayilara, highlighted the importance of tolerance and unity among community members, regardless of ethnicity and religion.
In their various goodwill messages, the Chairman of the occasion, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, former Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, and Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola, stressed the need for love and unity in moving the state forward.
A minute silence was also observed in honor of the late Seriki Hausawa of Sasa, Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin, while a bus was donated to the deceased family.
