The Ibadan Community in Cotonou, Benin Republic, has announced the nomination of Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu as Special Guest of Honour and recipient of an Award of Honour at its forthcoming Ibadan Day celebration.
In a statement by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Olatunji Ida, and the Secretary, Adewoyin Adeyinka, the organisers said the recognition was based on Dr. Tiamiyu’s exceptional impact on the social and developmental growth of the Ibadan community, describing his efforts as both significant and inspiring to indigenes at home and in the diaspora.
According to the release, the award ceremony will take place on Sunday, 19th April, during the Ibadan Day celebration in Cotonou.
The committee expressed confidence that Tiamiyu would accept the nomination and grace the occasion, adding that the event would serve as a platform to celebrate individuals who have contributed meaningfully to the progress of the Ibadan community.
They further explained that Ibadan Day remains an important annual gathering of indigenes aimed at promoting unity, cultural heritage, and collective development among Ibadan natives residing outside Nigeria, particularly those in Benin Republic.
